What We Do
The Environmental Chemistry group works to understand the occurrence and effects of chemical substances in the environment. Through chemical analyses, effect-based studies, and environmental investigations, we contribute knowledge on how substances are distributed, transformed, and impact ecosystems and human health.
Our expertise includes:
Analysis of organic compounds in various environmental matrices
Effect testing and specialised investigations
Mycological investigations
Environmental chemistry studies, including risk assessment
We combine measurement data, analytical expertise, and scientific interpretation to provide a robust basis for decisions on environmental status and mitigation measures.
Our unit
Environmental Chemistry is part of the Environmental Status and Mitigation Strategies unit, which focuses on assessing environmental conditions and developing solutions for sustainable development across air, soil, and water.
The unit combines applied research and consultancy assignments to:
Describe emissions and environmental conditions
Analyse complex environmental interactions
Develop mitigation strategies to achieve environmental objectives and targets
As part of the unit, the Environmental Chemistry group contributes specialised expertise that supports a better understanding of environmental impacts and helps guide effective environmental management and decision-making.
