IVL in Fiskebäckskil, Kristineberg
IVL’s office in Fiskebäckskil is located at the Kristineberg Marine Research Station, beautifully situated on the Gullmar Fjord on Sweden’s west coast. Just under ten employees work here in a research environment where universities, research institutes, and other organisations involved in marine research and innovation come together. Located north of Gothenburg, the office offers direct access to the sea and the marine environments that are central to much of the work carried out here. IVL has its own facilities at the research station and has maintained a presence here for many years.
Kristineberg Marine Research Station is one of the world’s oldest marine research stations and provides laboratories, test environments, and advanced research infrastructure for research, innovation, and education.

Expertise in Water and Marine Environments
Water is one of IVL’s largest areas of expertise, and at Kristineberg we conduct research and innovation focused on oceans, marine ecosystems, and the sustainable use of water resources. Our experts work on a range of topics, including marine pollution, sustainable aquaculture, blue foods, and the marine environment.
IVL has broad expertise in water-related issues, covering everything from advanced water treatment technologies to the development of sustainable water solutions. Together with our activities at SWIC – the Sweden Water Innovation Centre in Stockholm – we develop solutions for the future of water and sustainable aquatic environments.
